Walking the Walk
Our congregation is taking part in an interfaith program for teens called "Walking The Walk". This is a wonderful program involving interfaith dialogue & a service project under the auspices of the Interfaith Center. Beth Israel teens (9th-12th grades) meet with other high school age youth representing several different types of congregations within the same general geographical area.
Beth Israel Walking the Walk Partners in our Suburban - West/Media Network are: Reformation Lutheran Church (Media), St Mary Coptic Orthodox Church (Newark), St. Mary's Episcopal Church (Ardmore) and New Horizons Islamic Center (Wayne). Jewish, Muslim and Christian teens come together for a nine month program of interfaith dialogue and interfaith service learning. The service project centers on urban gardening with Urban Tree Connections. The group meets on Sunday afternoons, usually 2:00-5:00pm. They meet 12 times total over the course of the school year and meet at the partner congregations or the service learning site.
These photos are taken from the session held at our congregation, where Rabbi Linda addressed the group. Beth Israel teens Josh Kaufman and Samantha Dresner are representing BI in our first year of participating with WTW. Alex Dresner is serving as our adult mentor of the group, accompanying our teens to each session. Click here for program flyer.
