"The Invisibles" Movie Screening March 2, 2019 at BI

The Social Action Committee will screen the new, acclaimed film "The Invisibles" at BI in an exclusive, pre-theatrical release, on March 2nd, 2019.

While Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels infamously declared Berlin “free of Jews” in 1943, 1,700 managed to survive in the Nazi capital. Claus Räfle’s gripping docudrama traces the stories of four real-life survivors who learned to hide in plain sight. Moving between cinemas, cafés and safe houses, they dodged Nazi officials and a dense network of spies and informants. Yet their prudence was at odds with their youthful recklessness, prompting them to join the resistance, forge passports, or pose as Aryan war widows. Masterfully weaving these story threads together, THE INVISIBLES is a testament to the resourcefulness, willpower and sheer chance needed to survive against incredible odds.

This film is moving from the festival circuit to theaters around the country, and Beth Israel has been granted a special screening in advance of its opening at the Ritz Theaters downtown. Bring your friends and family. A $5.00 donation at the door is requested to support our Social Action programs and the BI General Fund. Movie style snacks and drinks will also be available. Doors at BI will open at 6:30PM, with Havdalah at 6:45, and the movie to follow. A discussion will be held afterwards.
