We are committed to Tikkun Olam, repair of the world.  The Social Action Committee's projects include a coat drive; participation in the Martin Luther Kind, Jr. Day of Service; preparing and serving meals to the homeless; special Tikkun Olam speakers at Friday night services; tutoring, mentoring, and assisting students in TAP (The Achievement Project); food drives during Passover and the High Holy Days; and presenting the Friends of the Community Award. The committee meets monthly at the homes of our members.  Anyone in the congregation is welcome to join.

When there is a 5th Monday in a month, members of the Social Action Committee organize a food service for the Life Center.  All members of the congregation are welcome to prepare entrees, salads, pasta dishes, vegetables, and/or desserts.  Food is dropped off at Beth Israel between 5:45 and 6:00 pm, then taken to the center where BI members serve the meal to the clients of the center.

The next two food services are Monday, October 29 and December 31, 2012
