| Congregation Beth Israel stepped up again on New Year's Eve to cook and serve for the hungry at the Upper Darby Life Center shelter. Led by Stu Pittel and Susan Klein, dozens of members cooked and brought meals to the synagogue. The serving team included Stu, John Greenstine, Amy Binder, Joe and Lois Deutsch, Miriam Sigler, Deanie Heller and Stu and Susan's friends Ernie Norcia, Marty Roelandt, Darryl Boudreaux and Caroll Drazen. | |

As usual, we had more than enough food for a grateful crowd at the shelter, and after many meals featuring meat loaf, pasta dishes, cold salads of all descriptions, dozens of hard cooked eggs, chicken done every which way, tray after tray of turkey chili, apples, cakes and cookies, the team returned to celebrate Auld Lang Syne at the Pittel/Klein's house. Beth Israel Social Action thanks everyone who contributed. All in all, a pretty good night.
